Hello lovely readers! I am SUPER, SUPER, SUPER excited to share this project with you. As you know, we have been working on updating our powder room on a budget. I showed you the plans for our powder room here and recently shared with you the progress that we have made so far, which included a photo showing our DIY industrial bathroom lighting. Wellpersonalized gifts for him for birthday, today I am going to share with you how we created this “;new”; industrial light for our powder room for less than $30! {PS- The powder room makeover is complete! As I reminder, here is the lighting fixture that we started with.

I neglected to get a “;before”; photo in decent lighting, so I found a nearly identicallight fixture online. Here is what it looked like under better lighting circumstances :) It looks like a ton of 3 light vanity lights that you can purchase for around $40, like this one from Amazon, or the one below from Lowe's.

There was nothing really “;wrong”; with the light fixture. In other words, I did not hate it and think it would probably look great in a more traditional bathroom. But, I did think it was way too traditional for our contemporary house. And I KNEW it was not the look we were going for in the powder room. The problem was that we did not have the budget for a $200 fixture that would fit with the look we were going for.

So, we got creative and decided to work with what we had. We removed the existing light fixture and got to work. Read on to learn how we totally transformed this light fixture into beautiful industrial bathroom lighting in less than 30 minutes, for less than $30!

Materials Needed:

1) Remove your light fixture.

2) After removing your light fixture, spray paint all of the pieces with flat black paint. You want to paint EVERYTHING, even the screws. Place balled up paper towels inside the sockets to protect them. We used Valspar flat black paint.

2) Purchase Edison Style 60 Watt Bulbs. You can find them at any home improvement store. Or, if you are like me and enjoy having everything delivered to your doorstep, you can order them from Amazon for exactly the same price as they are sold in most stores. The 60 watt bulbs sell for around $9.00 each.

3) Reinstall your light fixture and pop in your Edison bulbs. Do NOT replace the glass globes. Now stand back and admire your “;new”; light fixture for the cost of a few new lightbulbs!

We love it because it totally looks like the amazing DIY pipe light fixtures have seen on Pinterest. But this was so much easier and more cost effective for us since we already had the light fixture. So, we transformed our “;too traditional”; light fixture into beautiful industrial bathroom lighting that is totally our style. How's that for thrifty?!

What do you think of our “;new”; vanity light? Can you believe it is the same one? Have you ever transformed an existing light fixture?

Trying to make a?quilt for the first time can seem overwhelming! Where do you start, what do you need, and how do you actually get a quilt stitched together? We’ve found the best place to start is by choosing a simple project (like Christa Watson’s Simple Strips quilt above), and breaking?down the process of quiltmaking into steps. Tackle each of these one at a time, and you’ll be finishing your very first quilt before you know it. Learn how to make a quilt from start to finish following each of these steps.

As quilters, we are all about piecing, but we took a little detour to play with these modern ribbons by Amy Butler and wound up with the Woven with Love Pillow.? It is such a simple pillow project that requires very little cutting, and there is still room to embellish and play with the layout as you like for an original look!? We hope you love this pillow tutorial from Fat Quarter Shop!

30 Days has September, April, June and Nov… OH NO! You have 1.5 days to finish your 25 miniature hand-knit woolen mitten advent calendar garland. Or you can make one of these in about an hour and promise to finish the woolen mittens by next Christmas.
